The Language Center at the University of Zakho Started the Final Exams of the  Eighth Round (R8) of the English Language Proficiency Course.

Under the supervision of Professor Dr. Yaseen T. Mustafa, Vice President of the University of Zakho for Scientific and Postgraduate Affairs, and in the presence of Asst. Prof. Ivan H. Murad, the Director of Language Center, March 4, 2023, the final examinations of the Eighth Round (R8) of the English Proficiency Course were conducted following the below exams timetable:

Saturday, March 4th, 2023: Beginner and Elementary levels.
Sunday, March 5th, 2023: pre-intermediate level.
Monday, March 6th, 2023: intermediate level.

The exams are conducted in a centralized manner at the three main language centers in Kurdistan Region namely: the University of Duhok, the University of SalahAldin, and the University of Sulaimani. The proficiency English language course is conducted following the Ministerial Decree No. 40 issued on January 9, 2020. The primary purpose of this language course is to fulfill the English language requirements for postgraduate studies and academic title purposes.

It is worth mentioning that, including the final exam hours, this course is a 100-hour intensive course conducted in six weeks to improve the academic English of our participants and prepare them well to pursue their postgraduate studies and fulfill their academic requirements.

The course has four levels namely: Beginner, Elementary, Pre-intermediate, and Intermediate levels. Participants who are willing to pursue their Master's Degree and/or apply for their Academic Title are entitled to finish the 'pre-intermediate' level successfully. Moreover, Master's Degree holders in Humanities studies willing to pursue their PhD programs are also required to successfully finish the 'pre-intermediate' level to be issued a language certificate. Master's Degree holders in Science willing to pursue their PhD programs are required to successfully finish the 'intermediate' level to be issued a language certificate that fulfills their academic and postgraduate needs.
